Why does it have a shaft drive rather than a chain drive? |
|
| The motorcycle has been designed to be easily maintained; and the shaft drive requires no maintenance by the owner. This new sophisticated version is very advanced; and riders will not be able to tell the difference between this shaft drive and a chain driven motorcycle. |

Why does it use a UNICAM? |
|
| The motivation for use of the high performance UNICAM from the championship-winning CRF motorcycles was to reduce engine size and weight - improving mass centralisation and allowing for a better rider position, as well as improved fuel consumption. |

Why does the exhaust look like it does? |
|
| The exhaust is a unique design – with two pipes positioned one over the other. The design delivers optimum sound whilst also allowing for technologies that allow the system to meet European emissions and sound restrictions as well as providing excellent ground clearance. |

Why does it have a layered fairing? |
|
| The layered fairing technology has been taken from RC212V and is there to improve stability at high speed and keep rider and motorcycle cool by directing air around the engine. |

Why was CABS chosen as the braking system and not the electronic system that is on the new CBR1000RR Fireblade and CBR600RR? |

| The CABS on the new VFR is sufficient for the riding style and performance criteria of the new VFR1200F. The electronic version was designed specifically for supersports bikes as an emergency braking system for those race-ready types of machines. |

What fuel does it run on? |
|
| The VFR1200F takes unleaded fuel only. It is designed for Research Octane Number (RON) 98; but if 98 RON is unavailable 95 RON or higher is also recommended for best performance. |

What’s the reason behind the x-face design headlight – does it have a safety benefit? |
|
| The x-face headlight is primarily design –based. The high intensity headlight is of the highest quality. Combined with the running lights on the mirrors the motorcycle is highly visible to other road users. |

Will it have the same service intervals as other Honda motorcycles? |

| Service intervals for the new VFR1200F are 600km, 12,000km, 24,000km, 36,000km etc; unless the mileage is lower in which case an annual inspection and service should be carried out. |

| The tank size is 18.5L at 15.5 km/l; which provides an estimated range of 286.75km. |
